A Simple Practice for Releasing Heavy Emotions

🫧

Heavy emotions don't always need to be explained.

Sometimes sadness, grief, or overwhelm simply live in the body as a weight. We try to "think" our way out of them, but emotions aren't thoughts. They are energy.

🧠 The Body as a Vessel

Your mind tells stories about why you feel this way. Your body, however, just feels.

True release happens when we stop analyzing the story and start attending to the sensation.

šŸ“ A Somatic Practice

Find a quiet corner. You only need a few minutes.

  1. Ground Yourself Feel your feet on the floor. Take three slow breaths. Notice that the ground is holding you.

  2. Locate the Feeling Where does the emotion live right now? • A tightness in the throat? • A heaviness in the chest? • A knot in the stomach?

  3. Stay with it Imagine breathing into that specific spot. Don't try to change it. Just notice it. Say silently: "I am here with this."

šŸ“ Some people find it easier to stay present with a soft voice to guide them. Meditaai offers gentle emotional companions for these moments: https://meditaai.gumroad.com/

šŸ’ A Moment of Noticing

The sensation might shift. It might get heavier before it gets lighter. It might even turn into tears. This is normal. This is the energy moving.

🌿 Return to Now

When you feel ready, wiggle your fingers. Touch something soft or cold nearby. Take one final, deep exhale.

šŸ•Æļø A Quiet Ending

You don't need to "resolve" your feelings today.

Acknowledging them is the first act of self-compassion. You have been a kind witness to yourself.

That is enough for now.
